About Banks in JapanMost banks are open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays. After opening a bank account , you will be mailed a cash card and personal identification number or PlN (“ansho bango”, ). The card can be used at ATMs (automatic teller machines) or CD (cash dispenser) machines. CD machines can only be used to withdraw cash, whereas ATMs can be used for withdrawals, transfers, and deposits. You will also get a little bankbook that, when fed into the ATM, will be updated with all of your transactions and your balance. Avoid using ATMs at banks other than your own since they will charge a service fee.
ATMs in Japan are generally found in convenience stores, department stores, post offices and in airports. Machines found in convenience stores are often available 24 hours. How to open a bank accountComing soon
